The Windows Shell team is looking for a collaborative and customer-obsessed **Software Engineer** to join us on our journey of driving innovation in the most iconic surfaces in Windows such as Start Menu and Taskbar. As a **Software Engineer** on the Windows Shell team, you will partner closely with Product Management, Data Science, Design, and Marketing teams to come up with new feature ideas that solve real customer problems. You will have the opportunity to build full stack, end-user-facing features along with platform components that drive those scenarios. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond. **Responsibilities** + Works with appropriate stakeholders across disciplines to determine user requirements for key Windows Shell surfaces. + Contributes to the identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents with little oversight. + Creates and implements full stack, end-user-facing features for the Windows Shell, reusing code as applicable. + Makes data-driven decisions through experimentation to move key business metrics. + Remains current in skills by investing time and effort into staying abreast of current developments that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale. **Qualifications** **Required Qualifications** + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python + OR equivalent experience. + 2+ years experience designing, building and shipping software at scale using C/C++. + Familiarity with building UI using XAML. + Experience making data-driven decisions. **Preferred Qualifications** + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++. Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year. Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
