Job Description

We are seeking Software Engineers to contribute to the development of next-generation autonomous aircraft. Our contributions to the aerospace industry include the world-record breaking Orion aircraft, the first fully autonomous helicopter AACUS, a flying taxi, underwater vehicles, and a solar plane, to name a few. In this role, you will be part of a highly collaborative environment in which you will work independently on a multi-disciplinary team to test and perform other Verification and Validation (VV) activities on flight and/or mission-critical onboard software for autonomous systems. Candidates must have excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills, and the desire to take on new tasks and develop new skills.

ResponsibilitiesReview and understand system software requirements to meet defined and anticipated system performance and testing standards.Collaborate with other engineering disciplines in planning and development of test strategies to ensure software and hardware performance and compatibility.Write test plans and test cases, execute test procedures for integration and system-level testing.Write test scripts for robustness and failure injection tests.Use an integrated Hardware in the Loop simulator to exercise timing critical interfaces.Report on testing results and identify risk areas.Essential SkillsB.S. degree in Aerospace Systems, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant degree from an accredited university.Understanding of Systems Engineering Verification and Validation model.Proficiency in Model Based Simulation Software development using Simulink.Demonstrated use of test platforms for complex HW/SW integrated systems.Interest and working knowledge of a mix of UAS or Autonomous Vehicles, Navigation and Control, Ground or Airborne Mission Systems, General Aerospace Flight Control or Cockpit Avionics Systems, User / Ground Stations.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with software development and verification.Experience in Modeling and Simulation.Knowledge of Model-Based Design and/or Model-Based Test.Familiarity with Mathworks Simulink/Stateflow Auto-Coder Toolchain.Human Machine Interface (HMI) Interactions.Work Environment

This position is primarily onsite, with hybrid work available for the right candidate. The work location is in Manassas, VA. The work schedule is from 8-5, with some differing shifts that may come at a later time. This is a full-time position with no expected overtime. The role does not require travel and has no specific physical demands. The work will involve using Mathworks products (MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, etc.), and candidates must be familiar with these tools. The work environment is hybrid, with no set schedule and periods of intensive integration work.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
