Job Description Summary:

We are the Alternate Payment Methods Engineering Team primarily responsible for payments that are not run through credit or debit card schemes. Our focus is to enable integrations to local payment options and plug them into PayPal merchant and consumer facing products. Our goal is to increase the PayPal share of checkout by letting customers have a choice to use their favorite local payment options to do e-commerce and online payments.

We are looking for an exceptional and highly motivated senior engineer with great skills to join our team. In this role, you will help with the design, development, and maintenance of PayPal's APM platform to support additional regional payment methods and subsequent capabilities for PayPal merchants. You’ll collaborate with cross functional teams; architects, product owners, and other engineers to deliver scalable and efficient solutions that drive our business objectives. . You will play a valuable role in the development from concept to launch of payments newest technologies.

Product Development:  Design and development of backend systems, addressing high performance, scalability, and reliability. Code Review and Quality Assurance: Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality, performance, and security. Implement and maintain automated testing frameworks. Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in software development. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the team. Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for code, APIs, and technical processes.Collaboration: Work with architects, product managers and other stakeholders to translate requirements into technical specifications and solutions. Project Management: Assist in planning, estimation, and execution of projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products. Innovation: Identify and advocate for new technologies and methodologies to improve development processes and product offerings. 

Qualifications: 

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related fieldExperience: 3+ years of professional experience in backend development, with a strong focus on JavaTechnical Skills: Proficiency in Java and related frameworks such as Spring Boot and HibernateExperience in RESTful API design and developmentExperience with Microservices architecture and distributed systemsExperience applying software design patterns, data structures, algorithmsGood hands on exposure in database technologies such as SQL, NoSQL, and in-memory databasesA deep understanding of object-oriented design and development principlesProven experience in both real-time online transaction processing systems as well as non-real time asynchronous processingStrong problem-solving, debugging skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issuesExperience in driving Integration testing, UAT with external vendorsUnderstanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practicesKnowledge of code versioning tools, such as GitFamiliarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)Nice to have familiarity with Front End technologies such as React, Express, NodeExperience working in payments or financial services industry is a plus

$60900 to $147400
