Software Engineer
Job Title: Software EngineerJob Description We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of C++ training simulations. You will support the project manager in all technical aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) of rail simulation products. Responsibilities + Serve as a technical customer liaison, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements. + Create, modify, and configure train simulation software in C++ for various training devices, including full-scale motion-based simulators, desktop portable devices, and cloud solutions. + Troubleshoot and debug the code base using Microsoft Visual Studio. + Collaborate with hardware and software development teams during the integration phase of projects. + Participate in device installation, testing, and corrections with our team and customers. + Create software updates and test them before deploying to clients. + Conduct maintenance and technology upgrades. + Document and write design documents to define the scope of projects. Essential Skills + Proficiency in C++ ideally using Visual Studio or similar software building tools. + Experience in developing training simulation systems. + Software and hardware integration experience. + Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Software Engineering. + Project lead experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Knowledge of PHP, Perl, SQL, XML, Python, and batch scripting languages is a plus. + Experience in modeling and simulation and knowledge of the railway industry are advantages. + Team leadership experience with a desire to grow and improve all team members. Work Environment Initially, this is a full-time, in-office position to familiarize you with our proprietary software. Once you are comfortable, we offer a flexible work arrangement with a few days per week in the office. Some travel is required, especially when delivering simulators, which may involve spending 1-2 weeks onsite with customers in the US and Canada. The software is set up and tested in our office before being shipped and assembled at the client site. The Software Lead and a hardware team member will be involved in the onsite setup and testing to ensure everything is working correctly. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $65.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
