What you will do

The Global Headquarters for Volvo Financial Services is seeking a Software Engineer, Associate level, for the Software Engineering Chapter of VFS Digital and IT.   

 

As a Software Engineer you will evaluate product requirements, refine and estimate backlog items, implement, build, test, and maintain software applications that are tailored to our business needs. 

 

Together with your colleagues at VFS and in the broad cross-functional network at the Volvo Group, you will take responsibility in the following areas:   

Implement front-end, middleware and back-end software components (full-stack)  Write and test code that is secure and that can be maintained and enhanced by you and by others over time     Contribute to product backlog refinement and estimation  Highlight impediments that may slow down progress or impair product quality  Your Future Team

You will report directly to the Chapter Lead Software Engineering.  The Software Engineering Chapter is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.  You'll work alongside experienced and passionate professionals who are eager to share their knowledge, provide guidance and help you become the best engineer you can be.

Qualifications required to be successful in this role include: 

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field  2-3 years of proven experience implementing and maintaining front-end, back-end (API, messaging) and middleware software components in any programming language  Experience with Scrum/Kanban or other agile methodologies to manage product development  Experience working in parallel with other engineers using versioning tools such as Git and Mercurial  Strong ability to learn independently  Proactively seeks out new knowledge and skills  Strong communication skills  Proven experience with the technologies listed below are preferred:  Good knowledge in different programming languages such as:  TypeScript, JavaScript, CSS, HTML and React  C# and the .NET Framework  Microsoft Azure and Hashi Corp Terraform   Containers (Docker or Podman) and Kubernetes or RedHat OpenShift  API design (REST, RPC, OpenAPI), API security (OAuth 2.0) and implementation
