Software Engineer
Job Title: Software EngineerJob Description We are seeking a Software Engineer to support one of the Navy Submarine community's most important projects, Acoustic Rapid Commercial off-the-shelf Insertion (ARCI). The ARCI program leverages commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) rugged server and embedded computing technology to facilitate quick periodic upgrades of submarine sonar signal processing capability. This technology will be integrated into ships for the US Navy, Royal Australian Navy, British Navy, Canadian Navy, and several US allies. The team you will support is responsible for ensuring the ARCI software integrates properly with other subsystems on the submarine. Responsibilities + Involve in all aspects of the software development life cycle. + Design applications (5%). + Develop software modifications and new software from scratch (20%). + Create Linux OS scripting shortcuts (20%). + Troubleshoot, test, and integrate software (65%). + Participate in daily Agile Scrums. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field. + 1+ years of experience programming with technologies such as formal libraries, understanding pointers and inheritance, multithreading, and object-oriented programming. + Experience programming on a Linux platform (Red Hat Linux 6 or 7). + Experience working in a professional Agile Scrum Development Environment. + Experience testing and troubleshooting own code into an existing code base. + Active Secret Clearance (Interim is acceptable). Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience developing middleware (e.g., AMPQ, protobufs). + Knowledge of virtual technologies (e.g., KVM, VMWare, Kickstart). + Experience with compute cluster technologies. + Proficiency in Python (Bash will work too). + Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Hadoop, GIT, Jenkins. + Familiarity with software testing tools: junit, google test, google mock, test ng, cppunit. Work Environment Work either a 4/10 schedule (every Friday off) or a 9/80 schedule (9-hour days with every other Friday off). The worksite is in Manassas, VA, housing over 1000 personnel. Projects include collaboration with 200 software engineers. The facility includes the only full submarine test lab on the East Coast, allowing engineers to write and test code on a mocked-up submarine. Formal mentorship programs are available to support career growth. Most work will be done in the secure submarine lab, but cubical desks are available if preferred. The company also runs intramural sports leagues in the evening, open to all employees. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
