Job Title: Software Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Software Engineer to join our team. You will play a key role in adding new features to existing products to meet market demand for testers. This role involves both development and sustaining tasks, using software and physics/mathematics skills to solve new product development challenges. You will be involved in extensive experimentation directly on the product and in the lab, working with measurement control software written in C#.

ResponsibilitiesDesign machines that test optical fibers using cameras and mechanical positioners.Ensure perfect alignment of two fibers, addressing issues such as mismatched fiber types, imperfect fiber ends, or mechanical problems.Apply knowledge of physics and mathematics to understand and solve potential issues.Conduct image analysis as a key component of the role.Utilize knowledge of optics, including lenses, fiber, light propagation, and physical properties of materials.Understand photon behavior when examining fibers.Use software to collect and analyze data, understand part failures on equipment, and run hands-on experiments in the lab.Essential SkillsExperience with physics, C#, and experimentation.MS in Physics or Mathematics with research/lab experience, or BS with 2 years of on-the-job experience.Programming experience, ideally in C#, but willingness to learn C# is essential.Knowledge of digital/analog circuits.Experience tied to product development work.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with other programming languages such as Python.Hands-on experience running experiments in a lab on instrumentation or equipment.Work Environment

This is an onsite position, requiring you to be present in the lab 5 days a week. You will need to be around the tools and equipment necessary for the job.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
