The Software Engineer - Genesis Analysis will support the JETS II contract in Houston, Texas. This position will work on NASA's Genesis Development and Analysis Team, which provides software development and analytic support for a variety of NASA and commercial programs using the Genesis Flight Mechanics Simulation tool.\n

RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nDevelop multi-variable degree-of-freedom simulations and perform analysis of ascent, aerocapture, entry, descent, landing and trajectory design across the Orion and commercial crew programs.\nProvide software development and scripting of NASA's Genesis Flight Mechanics Simulation tool and related applications.\nDesign and execute analyses to compare the performance of different guidance algorithms.\nDemonstrate the use of Core Flight Systems (cFS) in Genesis.\nDevelop, integrate, and test new algorithms for evaluation of vehicle and mission performance.\nIntegrate Genesis with Core Flight Systems and other trajectory software and tools.\nDevelop requirements documentation for mission design products.\nProvide recommendations for improvements in design and software development processes.\nOther duties as assigned. \n\n

\n\nThis position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information. \nRequires a bachelor's degree in engineering.\nMust have 2+ years of recent and related experience. \nExperience with orbital mechanics and designing spacecraft trajectories.\nExperience with the development of spacecraft mission design algorithms.\nExperience analyzing spacecraft performance.\nExperience with 6-DOF spacecraft simulations.\nProficiency in C++, Python, and Linux.\nExperience in product delivery utilizing source code management tools such as Git\/GitLab.\nExperience developing, verifying, and validating simulation models.\nAble to work in a team environment consisting of NASA civil servants and contractor employees.\nAbility to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision.\n\n

DESIRED:\n\nA bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school with five (5) years of related engineering experience, a master's degree from an accredited engineering school and four (4) years of related engineering experience, or a Ph.D. from an accredited engineering school and zero (0) years of related experience.\nPhD in Aerospace Engineering with a focus on trajectory design, optimization, and orbital mechanics.\nProficiency in Julia.\n\n

WORK LOCATION: \n\nThis position is located onsite. \nThis position offers a 9\/80 schedule, every other Friday off. \nThis position may require some travel. \n\n
