Summary

As a Software Engineer I (Applications), one works with and is mentored by a talented group of engineers in a fast moving, collaborative Agile development environment. In this entry level role, one plans, designs, develops and tests software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products including cloud-based or internet-related tools.

Position Responsibilities

Works within a defined software life cycle development processSupports the full life-cycle of product including design, coding, debugging, test, deployment and maintenanceCodes, simulates, integrates and validates software. Writes quality code that is modular, reusable, testable, and scalable. Writes unit tests to test code you've written.Participates in software design reviewsDelivers work on time according to estimated completion dates and project schedule & budgetSupports and derives algorithm design from detailed software requirementsUses JIRA to keep an accurate work log and status of all tasks. Works closely with multiple teams of software developers supporting different programsFollows AV's software development process to develop quality code under general supervisionWorks on problems of limited scope. Operate in a continuous learning environment under moderate supervisionWorks closely with other engineering disciplinesOther duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related discipline is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience0 - 2 years of relevant experience in Windows or Linux application software development. Object Oriented Design experience a must; Qt experience is a plus.Expertise in one of the following: C# .Net, Java, C++Demonstrated familiarity with source code configuration management tools such as SVN and GitExperienced writing unit tests, using an IDE and understanding basic debugging techniquesDemonstrated mathematical and analytical skills are requiredDemonstrated understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, database, and operating systems.Willingness to travel locally (Occasionally)

Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies

The salary range for this role is:

$71,852 - $101,850
