Content Operations is ultimately responsible for successfully delivering Disney’s entertainment and sports content to millions of people every day. This involves developing, operating, and managing a global content supply chain – the myriad of steps involved from taking a finalized TV show/movie, or live piece of content, from inside Disney to audiences around the globe, in their preferred language and format. This team also manages technology operations in Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific.

Job Summary:

Content Platform Engineering is hiring a Software Engineer II to help build and innovate a world class content platform to support content delivery for brands such as Disney plus, ESPN+, Hulu, ABC, Marvel and Star Wars.   Our team of talented software engineers builds and manages a diverse suite of products and services that advance Disney’s media supply chain powering the some of the most watched entertainment content. You will help to define platform capabilities, designing and implementing product solutions using solid design principles, while balancing complexity, speed of implementation, and expandability.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

You will be building scalable, maintainable, and well-tested software solutions which are flexible to meet the requirements of multiple customers and stakeholders.

You will:

Collaborate with other software engineers and cross-functional teams

Work as part of a team to build, test, and deploy high quality software solutions

Build a deep understanding of our core systems and how they interact with upstream and downstream dependencies. 

Work with the team to break down product requirements into engineering tasks

Contribute to cross-functional troubleshooting of complex issues as needed 

Troubleshoot issues and fix defects

Participate in code reviews

Basic Qualifications:

Experience with Java, Kotlin, and Spring Framework

Experience using CI/CD patterns

Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS ECS, ALB, EC2, SQS, etc.

Experience in Agile/Scrum methodology

Team player with strong oral and written communications skills

Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies

Experience with full lifecycle of application development, including best practices of unit testing, code reviews, documentation, etc. 

Strong communication skills and attention to detail 

3+ years relevant industry experience  

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous work experience in media distribution 

Experience working with vendor teams to deliver high quality results 

Knowledge of performance testing and application profiling 

Strong curiosity about how Disney delivers the Magic and a desire to be a part of it 

Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, or a comparable field of study


The hiring range for this position in California is $114,900 to $154,100 per year and in Seattle and New York is $120,300 to $161,300 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
