Ultra Maritime is searching for a highly motivated and detail oriented Software Engineer to support the development of an existing RADAR system. Working closely with the software and systems engineers, the Software Engineer will develop features of the RADAR System from initial design, software development, to integration and test events that may be on-site.  Under the guidance of the lead software engineer, this software engineer will provide estimates of effort for the tasks assigned to them.  The software application includes a GUI and the software engineer will contribute to the development, maintenance, and testing of that application.  At Ultra Maritime, the Software Engineer will have the opportunity to develop key technologies for the U.S. Navy and will have the opportunity to work with complex software algorithms and cutting-edge digital signal processing hardware.  The Software Engineer will have the opportunity to contribute to key strategic approaches for future proposals, IR&D, and additional development activities.

Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.

Job Description

Required Experience:

At least 3 years' experience of C++ development and testingExperience working on a team to develop a system during all phases of the development lifecycleKnowledge of proper coding practices and the full development life cycleExperience with Linux-based operating systems and code developmentExperience with Git as the version control systemExperience with basic text/code editors such as VI/VIM, Emacs, nano, Kate, gedit, etc.Familiarity with UML or other design modeling techniquesStrong attention to detail and work ethicWillingness to travel (10%).

Preferred Experience: (Optional)

Experience with middleware/inter-process communication using a publish-subscribe pattern such as AMQP, CORBA, DDS, ROS, ZeroMQ, etc.Experience with tools to do code coverage, memory leak, and other code integrity checksExperience with Qt programming and/or GalliumWorking knowledge of XML XSDFamiliar with containerized environments such as Kubernetes

Qualifications:

At least 3 years of experience with a BS Degree in Software Engineering disciplineUS citizen and ability to obtain appropriate personnel clearance
