Software Engineer II
CTG is seeking to fill a Software Engineer II opening for our client in Buffalo, NY. Location: Remote Duration: 6 months Overview: This role will involve the design, development, and implementation of software solutions to solve a variety of business problems, with an emphasis on enhancing existing applications and platforms. The ideal candidate will contribute to major modifications and play a key role in systems analysis, design, and development. Primary Responsibilities: Complete and oversee systems analysis, design, and development of applications for complex to simple business needs. Serve as a key contributor on complex projects and provide technical direction. Direct and monitor less experienced team members while coordinating development tasks for small to large scope projects. Maintain an excellent functional understanding of supported applications and technologies. Prepare and manage technical components of project plans and collaborate with other teams in systems development from technical analysis to user acceptance testing. Participate in debugging, test execution, and the creation of detailed test plans. Provide analytical consulting on leveraging information technologies to meet business needs and objectives. Develop and review technical and functional specifications, ensuring systems documentation is accurate. Recommend new technologies, processes, or policies to improve organizational efficiency. Ensure adherence to development standards and company risk management policies. Maintain a solid understanding of business processes and strategic goals. Scope of Responsibilities: The Software Engineer II will work under the supervision of the Technology Team Lead and will be responsible for the technical aspects of application development. The role involves managing project activities and staff performance, ensuring that projects are completed within timeframes and budgets. The position interacts with senior management, other technology teams, clients, and vendors. Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities: May lead or mentor less experienced team members. Responsible for coordinating tasks and managing project milestones for small to large scope initiatives. Education and Experience Required: Minimum of an Associate’s degree and 5 years of systems analysis/application development experience, or 7 years of combined higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years of systems analysis/application development experience. Proficiency with application development software and hardware platforms. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience presenting to technical and non-technical audiences. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects of a complex nature with excellent organizational and time management skills. Experience with COBOL, JCL, and CICS is required. Education and Experience Preferred: Familiarity with the Bank’s application framework or other industry-specific systems. Strong knowledge of interfacing applications and integrated systems. Experience coordinating between application teams and business units, recommending and implementing systems solutions. Ability to work autonomously and in team settings, multitasking for various project components. Action-oriented and proactive problem solver. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
