**Location:** Buffalo, NY
**Duration:** 6 months
**Overview:**
The Software Engineer II is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications to support business objectives. This role requires analytical and technical skills to evaluate client requirements, develop solutions, and improve existing systems. The ideal candidate will work independently on complex projects, provide mentorship to junior developers, and ensure technical standards and best practices are followed.
**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Design, develop, test, and maintain applications to meet business needs.
+ Participate in system analysis and ensure alignment with business objectives.
+ Provide technical expertise in evaluating and implementing new technologies.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve issues with applications and systems.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, business analysts, and project managers.
+ Develop and maintain technical documentation for software applications.
+ Follow software development best practices, including coding standards, testing, and deployment strategies.
+ Ensure security, scalability, and maintainability of applications.
+ Participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality deliverables.
+ Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies.
**Scope of Responsibilities:**
+ Work independently and contribute to the full software development lifecycle, including planning, designing, coding, testing, and deployment.
+ Participate in technical discussions and provide recommendations on system improvements.
+ Develop and maintain software solutions that integrate with other applications and platforms.
+ Ensure software quality through unit testing and automated test development.
+ Collaborate with stakeholders to refine requirements and propose solutions.
+ Identify and mitigate technical risks in projects.
**Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:**
+ May provide guidance and mentorship to junior software engineers.
+ Assist in managing technical tasks and coordinate with project teams.
**Education and Experience Required:**
+ Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, with at least 5 years of experience in software development.
+ In lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years of higher education and/or work experience, including at least 5 years of hands-on software development experience.
+ Strong proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#, JavaScript).
+ Experience with application development frameworks and tools.
+ Familiarity with database management systems (SQL, NoSQL).
+ Proficiency in software development methodologies such as Agile and DevOps.
**Education and Experience Preferred:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
+ Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
+ Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
+ Experience with front-end and back-end development.
+ Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
