Role – Software Engineer II (Frontend)

Location - New Delhi, India

Your Goal – To lead and execute UI projects which empowers all of Chegg engineering to move faster and deliver better for an awesome Student experience.

Chegg's engineering team is a group of passionate engineers, who, in close collaboration with data scientists, product managers, designers, and UX researchers, build the future of the online education industry. We build our products to scale and to last, we don’t take shortcuts (hello unit-tests and documentation), and we take pride in delivering high quality solutions on time.

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Web Developer who is able to own the complete SDLC for projects, is able to deliver high-quality technical designs and code in fast-paced agile scrum environment and is capable of communicating / working closely with all other teams at Chegg.

The ideal candidates like to think outside the box, are interested in constantly improving themselves and their team by education and feedback; and want to give some of their work to an open source community. They love tackling new problems, deploying frequently, thinking on their feet and coming up with new ideas.

Responsibilities:

Ship reliable software, practicing robust software design and in-depth code reviews.Build efficient, clean and reusable features / libraries / components which can be shared with all of Chegg engineering.Collaborate with our design and product teams on defining and delivering new features to ensure a great experience for our users.Analyze and optimize UI and web server code for security, efficiency and performance.Be a voice in ensuring the team stays true to the technical vision.Being a technical mentor to the team, keeping up to date with latest tech and grooming the next generation of engineers.

Skills and Qualifications

Overall experience of 3+ years with UI technologiesStrong hands-on experience in any of the advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks such as ReactJS, NextJS, Redux, Apollo / GraphQL, NodeJS, SSR etc.Strong hands-on with NodeJS and TypeScriptGood understanding of server-side CSS preprocessors, such as Less, Sass, etc.Good understanding of modern web architecture behind scalable web applicationsPractical understanding of performance optimization techniques for web applicationsStrong understanding of TDD and writing unit test casesOwn decisions around refactoring and strengthening the frontend ecosystemself-motivated and organized and demonstrate a persistent passion to learnExperience building single page web applications is a plusExperience with AWS cloud service platform or similar is a plusExperience with building component of developer platform is a plusExperience with handling large amount of data (millions of rows) on frontend is a plusExperience with open source contribution is a big plusAny track record with visual design and design teams is a plus
