This role is a part of New Shepard, a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Kármán line, the internationally recognized boundary of space. Through operational reusability, New Shepard supports our mission of lowering the cost of access to space!
As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will be designing, implementing and verifying software for test systems that test the functionality and safety of flight hardware. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and share in the team’s impact on all aspects of re-usable, safety-critical software development, verification and delivery. Our team delivers the software packages used to verify requirements of the hardware of flight avionics and mechanical components for acceptance and qualification testing.
The job responsibilities include:
Designing and implementing software that automates the test campaigns.
Producing documentation for software architecture, design, verification, and configuration management.
Defining and developing verifiable software requirements, architecture and designs.
Developing tests to ensure code meets safety critical standards and functions.
Conducting trade-studies and develop prototypes to prove architecture and design concepts/quantify technical risks.

Minimum Qualifications:5+ years of proven experience writing software and deploying it to a production environment.
Strong software development skills, particularly in Python and C/C++.
Familiarity with real-time operating systems and Linux.
Experience with LabVIEW for avionics test and measurement applications.
Strong debugging skills at the software/hardware boundary, and familiarity with software verification approaches.
Critical thinking when reviewing system requirements to write software.
Hard working teammate with excellent technical written and verbal communication.
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:Degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or related technical field with equivalent years of experience.
Experience developing and testing real-time embedded systems (including APIs, interfaces and device drivers).
Experience with software systems that follow DO-178, DO-330 or similar guidelines.
Direct hands-on experience with GNU toolchain, Serial Communications (RS-232 and TTL), IP networking, UDP/TCP, I2C, UART, ZMQ, etc.
Experience with agile development methods.
Experience with tools such as Git (Gitlab/GitHub) DOORs, DOORs Next Generation (DNG), Jama, Artifactory, and Docker.
Exposure to software development on embedded system with I/O transducers: displacement, rate, and acceleration sensors; pressure and temperature sensors; servo and solenoid actuators; etc.
Proven understanding of hardware components such as an MMU, MAC, DMA, Flash, etc.
Experience with debuggers, profiling, and tracing.

Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $141,480.00-$198,072.00Other site ranges may differ
