Our Opportunity:
Chewy is seeking a Software Engineer III to join our Supply Chain technology team in Bellevue, WA, Minneapolis, MN or Boston, MA. This role will focus on some of Chewy's Supply Chain key initiatives in the outbound space including streamlining Chewy’s cartonization strategy for packages and building in-house Cartonization solution. The ideal candidate is an expert in cloud-based data solutions, particularly within the AWS ecosystem, and is passionate about data-driven decision-making. This technical leader will work autonomously to design and build high complexity components and/or systems. This individual will partner with both technical and business teams on multiple initiatives, provide guidance and mentorship to the existing team, and collaborate to deliver new features and improvements! We continue to grow and always Think Big about new innovative ideas, while consistently exploring opportunities to differentiate ourselves in the industry.
What You’ll Do:
Actively guide Team Members and participate in the definition, design, development, testing and implementation of software functionality using an agile methodology Communicate project status, risks, and solutions to team and partners, and act as technical point of contact to influence collaborators regarding trade-offs Ensure that technical solutions for your team follow best practices, are reliable, are easily maintainable, and are scalable under sustained load Design, develop and maintain Tier 1 system for cartonization using AWS services.Software Development: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices in software engineering. Ensure that all code is well-documented and undergoes rigorous peer review.Cloud Infrastructure: Collaborate with DevOps to design and manage the cloud infrastructure, focusing on scalability, high availability, and disaster recovery.Software Engineering Best Practices: Advocate for and implement software engineering best practices, including version control, code reviews, unit testing, and continuous integration continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.Data Security and Compliance: Implement best practices for data security and compliance, ensuring that all data handling meets Chewy’s security standards and regulatory requirements.Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other engineering teams to understand data needs and develop robust solutions that meet business objectives.Performance Tuning: Continuously monitor and improve the performance of data solutions, identifying bottlenecks and optimizing data processing speeds.What You’ll Need:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or similar; or equivalent experience 7+ years of software engineering experience Extensive experience with AWS data services: EC2, Lambda, S3Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java with a strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical collaborators.Bonus (if applicable):
Experience leading technical teams in the development and delivery of projects Experience in Supply Chain and/or exposure with Operational Research spaceExperience in building scalable and high-availability system from scratchCertification: AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
Compensation & Benefits:
Our salary range for a Software Engineer III position is $134,500.00 - $215,000.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k, and a new hire and annual equity grant.
