Our Opportunity:

Chewy is seeking a Software Engineer III to join our inbound logistics team in Bellevue WA, Minneapolis MN, or Boston MA. The team is focused on improving Chewy’s processes and decision-making around bringing inventory into our fulfillment centers, ranging from transportation decisions to informing inbound labor planning. This role will act as an Individual Contributor, part of a team of engineers and data scientists, to design, test, and implement solutions.

You'll partner with your teammates to deploy new and enhance existing products. You will be relied on as a thought leader in the space, proposing new ideas for existing problems; and as a technical leader who is equally comfortable digging into an engineering problem and partnering with a data scientist to deploy a model.

 

What You’ll Do:

AWS: Using AWS services, design, develop, and maintain systems, and deploy and maintain ML modelsSoftware Development: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices in software engineering. Ensure that all code is well-documented and undergoes rigorous peer review.Software Engineering Best Practices: Advocate for and implement software engineering best practices, including version control, code reviews, unit testing, and continuous integration continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.Data Security and Compliance: Implement best practices for data security and compliance, ensuring that all data handling meets Chewy’s security standards and regulatory requirements.Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other engineering teams to understand data needs and develop robust solutions that meet business objectives.Performance Tuning: Continuously monitor and improve the performance of data solutions, identifying bottlenecks, optimizing data processing speeds, and ensuring ease of maintenance and scalability.Communication: Communicate project status, risks, and solutions to team and partners, and act as technical point of contact to influence collaborators regarding trade-offs Leadership: Actively guide Team Members in design and implementation, troubleshooting, thinking outside the box

What You’ll Need:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)7+ years of experience as a Software Engineer preferably in both front-end and full-stack developmentProven experience building scalable, highly available systemsNinja coding and debugging skillsPassion for metrics and data-driven decision makingKnowledge of professional software engineering practices including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operationsSolid understanding of CS fundamentals: object-oriented design, algorithms, and problem-solvingExcellent verbal and written communication skillsApproximately 4% domestic travel requiredThe position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

 

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant. We offer different types of insurance, such as medical/Rx, vision, dental, life, disability, hospital indemnity, critical illness, and accident. Pay Range$124,500—$199,000 USD
