As a Software Engineer III o­­n this team, you will be part of a high performing video service engineering team that supports our innovative customer experiences on the Charter My Spectrum Application, traditional video and Charter’s next generation products. This role handles complex, high priority investigations across Charter’s video platforms, evaluating the needs, time and system limitations when investigating and resolving video platform issues.

WHAT OUR PRINCIPAL DEVELOPERS ENJOY MOST

Designing and implementing new functionality that is testable and performant with limited oversight and guidance following best practices and approved troubleshooting patterns.Applying object oriented and computer science fundamental principles to investigations.Understanding and applying different SDLC processes, particularly Agile and Scrum; participating fully in Scrum rituals when required.Understanding and applying applicable technology security and industry regulatory and legal compliance considerations.Identifying fixes to defects raised.Raising defects in code reviews.Providing LOE on projects / feature level.Contributing to technical requirements and technical design documents.Collaborating with other team members to identify and solve technical problems.Responding to customer inquiries around the behavior of the developed software.Developing and maintaining technical documentation.Ensuring legal, regulatory, process, and security compliance of completed work.Increasing their knowledge of IP Video Delivery, platforms, players, and applicationsExperience with monitoring technologies (Kibana, OpenSearch, Datadog, Splunk, etc)

Required Qualifications

Experience:Database Management Systems – 1-3+ yearsCoding, testing, and designing software – 1-3+ yearsSoftware Development Methodologies – 1-3+ yearsEducation:BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, related field or equivalent combination of education and experienceTechnical skills:Demonstrated knowledge of one major programming language/toolDemonstrated knowledge of coding language and syntax, usage of functions and object-oriented patternsKnowledge of environments, docker images, container runtimes, and cloud native app developmentKnowledge of dependent systems, e.g., up/downstream APIs, clients, data stores, CI/CD PipelinesKnowledge of design patterns and frameworksSkills:Showcases Project / Feature level work to their team and technical leadershipBasic negotiation skillsExercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate actionAbilities:Ability to read, write, speak, and understand EnglishAbility to work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factorsAbility to apply company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issuesAbility to work under general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignmentsAbility to break down assigned projects into manageable tasks and completes within a given timeframeAbility to multi-task and prioritize effectively without oversight       Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of front-end development across Java, mobile app and/or web technologies.

Demonstrated ability to take ownership and make technical decisions in complex video platform investigations.

Ability to keep current with trends and technological innovations in the industry in order to contribute to the execution of proofs-of-concept for new approaches.

The base pay for this position generally is between $78,900.00 and $139,500.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
