The Market Risk Technology Engineering Team (in TD Securities) is responsible for the development and support of our derivatives (Interest Rate, FX, Credit, Commodity) valuation, trading risk and enterprise market risk for our organization. Our applications are hybrid cloud based and consist of: Risk & Capital Studio, Valuation Services and Curve & Volatility Generation. The main team is in Toronto and New York.

About This Role

The Market Risk Technology Engineering Team is looking to on-board a self-starting, high-performing Java software engineer with a strong engineering mindset to help us grow our risk & valuation applications through software design and its implementation in Java.

Technical Skills

Undergraduate Degree or Technical Certificate10-15+ years of Java experienceExperience in the Spring tech stack and building microservices using Spring BootExperience in designing and integrating with REST APIs, gRPC endpoints.Experience working with messaging technologies (Kafka) (ZeroMQ, Google ProtoBuf – a plus)Experience with Hadoop, Spark, Parquet or similar Big Data technologies  Experience with RDBMS, demonstrable fluency in SQLExperience of Git, CI/CD toolset (Maven / Gradle), Jenkins, working within an Agile environmentStrong understanding of clean coding practicesExperience working with scalable and low latency systemsA passion for simplifying and automating work, for making things better, for being efficient and helping others


Business Skills

Strong communication skills. The Software Engineer III leads the creation of comprehensive end-to-end detailed solutions for projects and platforms with overall accountability for the technical design and delivery of a specific technical solution based on requirements from stakeholders. 

Develops and maintains technical solutions, ensuring adherence to engineering and architectural design principles while meeting business requirements. Provides technical expertise with a focus on efficiency, reliability, scalability, and security; includes planning, evaluating, recommending, designing, operationalizing, and supporting solutions in compliance with enterprise and industry standards. 

Ultimately, providing expert advice and lead in system / application administration, installation, configuration / provisioning, platform planning and design, integration and release / deployment management.
