Software Engineer – Robotics Research and Development
Parsons is seeking a sharp Software Engineer to support robotics/Intelligent Systems Research and Development efforts for our US Army DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory (ARL) Customer from hybrid locations at Edgewood, MD, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, as well as remotely. In this role you will be supporting research and development of robotic manipulation algorithms for autonomous decontamination of Army vehicles and equipment. This work will include working collaboratively with a team of scientists and engineers from government and industry across a variety of tasks to include research and development, algorithm implementation in the actual hardware, software integration, proof-of-concept demonstrations, and performance evaluation for tested software and platforms.
What You'll Be Doing:
Software programming in PythonRefactor and optimize prototype software algorithms developed by ARL researchers and Academic collaboratorsEnable experiments that support fundamental research in the areas of robotics, machine learning, and artificial intelligenceResearch and develop new autonomous capabilities in line with ARL mission to develop autonomous manipulation for robotic systemsDevelop and execute verification and validation test processes on prototype software algorithmsPrepare and/or present presentations and written documents summarizing research and development effortsCommunicate effectively both in writing and verballyTravel and test in real-world settings, including outdoorsDevelop and abide by safe testing protocolsWhat Required Skills You'll Bring:
U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret ClearanceBS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related fieldThree (3) or more years of relevant experience to include proven software development Demonstrated strong software engineering and design fundamentalsVery strong Python skills are requiredAdditional experience with any of the following are a plus:C++ROS1, MoveIt!, Nvidia Isaac Sim frameworksArduino hardwareRobotic manipulation, reinforcement learning, motion planning, controlsGit and Pybullet toolsChemistry familiarityExperience with team-based software development a plusExcellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively and enthusiastically in a multi-disciplinary team environmentWillingness to learn new skills sets and adapt in a dynamic environmentMinimum Clearance Required to Start:
