Software Engineering Director

As a Software Engineering Director within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in one of PNC’s Technology and Innovation Hubs – Pittsburgh, PA / Cleveland or Strongsville, OH / Dallas, TX / Birmingham, AL / Phoenix, AZ. The position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at the manager’s discretion.

Reporting to the COO of Technology, this role will oversee the solutions delivery life cycle program including policies, governance, standards and expectations. Drive agile maturity and effectiveness across the organization, working with our technology leaders and their engineering and development teams and other internal partners.

This role will focus on:
• Define, refine, enhance, implement and evaluate Enterprise programs including:
• Change management program
• Enterprise release management program
• Testing and validation governance including standards
• Testing environments (standards and management expectations)
• Oversee solution delivery life cycle program
• Training and Awareness
• Develop training for all engineering teams on how to execute changes safely
• Covers policy, standards and expectations
• Refresher training

To be a strong consideration for this opportunity, you will need:
• A strong technical acumen with a working understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC); utilizing DevOps methodology
• Experience as a Software Engineer, Software Architect or Software Developer is very helpful
• Experience conducting risk assessments, control quality, identify gaps and monitor response and performance control
• Issue management
• Strong critical thinking
• Experience working with large financial/banking institutions needed to succeed
• Exposure working with financial services regulators or regulatory requests
• Comfort in leading complex discussions across technology and business with subject matter experts to push through clear and documented solutions that are implemented and successful

Job DescriptionDirects all activities and initiatives related to application services for an entire organization or for major clients.Directs and manages the delivery of large or complex application development projects. Defines strategies and client needs focused on technology development.Maintains relationships with clients; communicates with IT and business management. Monitors prompt response and support for technical issues.Ensures high standards and quality of technical work. Directs reviews of tools and technologies for improving performance and reducing costs.Directs, motivates, develops and manages the performance of the management team and key staff.

Industry -relevant experience is typically 8+ years. At least 5 years of prior management experience is typically required. Proven leadership experience with a large scope of responsibility is required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.
