In Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Systems, you will help develop systems that sense, control, exploit and disseminate actionable information to warfighters supporting a variety of missions. The C4ISR Systems line of business within the Electronic Systems (ES) Sector of BAE Systems is looking for Software Engineering Interns. The BAE Rome NY campus, established in 1997, provides technical support across multiple ES Sector projects providing both operations and sustainment support to existing efforts and cutting edge solutions for emerging products. As a Software Engineer Intern, you can expect to gain a breadth of experience working on cross-functional teams under the guidance of Senior Level Engineering. Our Software Engineer Interns have the opportunity to assist in design and development of software platforms and mission applications and will work in a rapid development environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Assigned tasks will be technically challenging, achievable, time-boxed, and under the direction of technical leadership. Duties will include analyzing, developing, debugging, testing, configuring, and deploying software solutions in an agile continuous development environment. Applying state-of-the-art software development tools and techniques, working alongside other highly motivated engineers. The Java programming language is the norm for the majority of ES projects. However, many other technologies are typically used as well (e.g. Java, JavaScript, Web Services, SOA, Python, PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, etc.). Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time. To allow employees to balance their work and personal lives, we offer flexible 9/80 work schedules, where employees work nine-hour days with every other Friday off within a two-week pay period. **Required Education, Experience, & Skills** + Enrollment in a BS/BA, or MS/MA engineering/technical degree program + Entering Junior or Senior level year (BS/BA) or MS/MA student + Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain an active Top Secret/SCI clearance. The applicant must be able to maintain their security clearance for the position. Applicant must also be able to obtain and maintain the CompTIA Security certification. + Basic understanding of standard software skills in design and code + Exposure to multiple high level programming languages (e.g., Java/J2EE, C/C ) + Exposure to various scripting languages JavaScript, Python, PHP + Exposure to UNIX / Linux / Windows based development environments + Exposure to data structures, software design patterns and multiple programming language features + Team player with a proactive attitude and the ability to be productive in a dynamic environment + Ability to work in a collaborative environment (open seating arrangement) + Strong oral and written communications skills + Ability to take initiative, multi-task and work well under pressure **Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills** + Applicants with a current TS/SCI security clearance + Applicants with a current CompTIA Security certification + Experience developing with Java, Java EE, C/C , Web Services, SOA + Experience with Cloud Computing, Angular Framework, Perl, JSON, HTML/CSS + Experience with build systems, such as Make, Ant, Maven and Gradle + Experience with version control systems, such as Subversion and GIT + Experience developing web-based graphical user interfaces (GUI) and applications + Experience implementing software designs as a member of a development team + Technical writing skills: capable of creating and modifying engineering documentation + Familiarity with Agile methodology principles **Pay Information** Full-Time Salary Range: $50396 - $68007 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience. Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan.
