As the Software Engineering Department Manager, you will provide leadership, strategic direction, and technical guidance for the software development team. You will ensure the department meets its objectives, drives innovation, and delivers solutions that align with the company's vision. Technical Leadership: Lead and mentor the team members, guiding them in development processes, architecture, and problem-solving. Make critical technical decisions to ensure high-quality software delivery and promote accountability and best practices within the department. Strategic Direction: Develop a strategic vision for the department, aligning with company goals. Define a prioritized roadmap with key stakeholders, promote accountability, and secure necessary resources for success. Collaboration & Communication: Foster open communication and collaboration across teams and departments. Ensure alignment on strategic initiatives through regular knowledge-sharing and clear communication with upper management. Cultural Change & Team Empowerment: Empower engineers to take ownership of technical challenges and drive continuous improvement. Create a culture of learning and recognition for technical excellence. Talent Development & Recruitment: Attract and retain top talent through a defined recruitment strategy, mentorship programs, and balanced expertise. Ensure long-term team success through skill development. Resource & Staffing Optimization: Develop and manage staffing plans that balance permanent and temporary staff to meet project needs and budget constraints. Optimize performance evaluations and external staffing resources. Infrastructure & Tools: Provide necessary infrastructure and tools, ensuring staff are trained and technology resources are optimized through regular audits and improvements. Engineering Excellence & Project Management: Promote engineering excellence in Scrum teams, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products. Remove impediments and streamline project management for efficiency. Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation by contributing to strategic initiatives and supporting new program proposals that advance technology and align with company objectives. Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience (10+ years) in software development, with 5+ years in a managerial or leadership role. Strong understanding of software development processes, programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python), data structures, and software architecture. Solid project management experience with a track record of delivering successful software projects. Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans, manage teams, and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. The Software Department consists of the software developers and testers who are responsible for the whole of requirements gathering, designing, implementation and testing of new features and functions. The team focuses on designing software to control, support and use our Advanced Packaging and Electronic Assembly machines that are known for their high output at high accuracy.
