Job Description

As a Software Engineering Manager in the ECS team, you'll be actively engaged in the planning, design, and development of important projects within our D2C organization. You will be a hands-on engineer who has expertise in building full-stack cloud-native enterprise applications, and is comfortable splitting their time with 50% going towards developing software, and 50% focused on leading a engineering team. You will report to the Director of Software Engineering.

 

Responsibilities in this role include:

Guide the development of highly scalable and reliable technical solutions built for quality and performanceContribute hands-on in the development of microservices in our AWS cloud-based architecture, as well as web app development in our micro-frontend architectureCoach, support, and inspire software engineers on the team, with a strong focus on feedback and growthPromote continuous learning and new ideas as a cultureDrive hiring, training, career plans, and performance reviews for the engineering teamLead the sizing, design, development, and testing of key programs within D2C engineeringActively participate in all levels of the development process, including code and design reviews, as well as collaboration with business and project management on product roadmaps and quarterly planningOwn deliverables through ideation, testing, validation, and production deploymentEnsure stable Production operations with focus on uptime, performance, and reliabilityProvide leadership on Lean/Agile principles and development practicesDiligently observe and maintain standards for regulatory compliance and information security

QualificationsBachelors in Computer Science or a related field preferred, or equivalent amount of expertise8+ years software development experience, with at least 2 years in a people management role.Professional experience developing full-stack cloud-native projects in an Agile/Scrum environmentHands-on experience engineering solutions within the AWS ecosystem, especially utilizing NodeJSProven proficiency building web applications in Angular and/or ReactTrack record of successful project delivery in a people management and/or technical lead roleStay informed about relevant technology trends and developments, and work to make decisions and achieve results amidst constraintsDeep understanding of design and engineering practicesDemonstrable familiarity with CI/CD processes (including code review, deployment, etc) and tools (such as git, GitHub Actions, Docker)Experience with engineering that moves technical innovation

GraphQL / Apollo experienceExperience building micro-frontend applicationsActive collaboration in open-source communitiesPrevious Mobile (web and/or native) development experienceFinancial Services experience
