The Software Engineering Technical and Appraisal Advisor will support the MSMAS contract at MSFC in Huntsville, AL. The successful candidate will work with software engineering and software assurance to prepare the engineering organization for CMMI Level 3 appraisal and certification. This is a part time position not to exceed 20 hours per week.\n

RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nThe candidate will serve as subject matter expert in flight and ground software planning, development, process auditing and verification.\nThe candidate will advise engineering as well as assist in developing and managing processes and procedures to ensure organizational compliance to CMMI best practices as well as NASA organizational standards and guidelines.\nThe candidate will support technical interchange meetings and interface with stakeholder groups providing advice to program management on flight and ground software.\nThe candidate will serve as an independent reviewer for key design and special-topic review teams as needed.\nOther duties as assigned. \n\n

REQUIRED:\n

\n\nThis position requires US Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer related information.\nMust have a bachelor's degree in the field of software or aerospace engineering or a related field.\nMust have 30+ years of recent and related NASA work experience.\nMust have direct NASA experience in flight software management and development.\nStrong knowledge of NASA NPR 7150.2 and CMMI Level 2 and 3 capability and practice areas.\nMust be able to map and drive achievable goals to support the successful appraisal and accreditation.\n\n

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:\n

STANDARD BASTION REQUIREMENTS:\n\nMust have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.\nAll of Bastion's employees must be team players. \nAble to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.\nAble to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.\nMust have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented.\nMust be organized with good time management skills.\nGenerally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.\nWork may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). \nMay require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).\nRegular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.\nAbility to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.\n\n
