Software Group Manager - 6 to 12 years experience

Engineering Manager is accountable for a group of engineers/technicians and activities related to software and solution development, and software engineering. In this role, this person is responsible for hiring, developing, and coaching these dedicated individuals and define what performance is for the team, to help achieve the organization objectives.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Mentoring and developing a team of engineers & technicians to meet project objectives effectively and efficiently. Helping them build expertise level skills. Encouraging the use of established methodologies in engineering processes, software development, and tools. Define project’s scope, schedule, and resources, achieving stated project goals on time and on budget. Facilitating Daily Scrum, Iteration & Cycle Planning, Retrospective & Backlog Grooming meetings. Monitoring project performance and health; managing project risks and raising issues to leadership Effectively communicating project plan & status to stakeholders at all levels – from leadership to individual contributors – to keep them informed and engaged as necessary Building a pipeline of candidates and recruiting new team members. Owner or participant of team/organization’s initiative(s). Strengthens Employee Engagement through various initiatives. Responsible for assessing performance and compensation for their team members.

Key Performance Objectives

Team utilization and project staffing – Ensure the necessary skills to work on projects exist in the team and that team is utilized efficiently. This includes retention of team members. Adherence to the engineering process and standard methodologies – Ensure that team members are familiar with the engineering process and development standard methodologies/tools and proper adherence to them. Identify and drive opportunities to improve infrastructure, process and execution efficiency. Builds the clock - Lead initiatives that help the organization evolve and become more effective/efficient.

You are a leader who is self- driven, shows tremendous amount of initiative and gracefully handles ambiguity. You possess strong leadership and skills and have a consistent track record of developing and implementing strategies to achieve organizational objectives.

For This Role, You Will Need:

Bachelor’s or higher Degree from an accredited college/university. 5-8 years of Product development or Automated Test Infrastructure development experience using C/C++/Python language. Entry level people management or team lead experience for at least 1 to 2 years. Proficient in software engineering, project management processes and tools, and skilled in analyzing and mapping out processes. Strong business insight to take complex technical information and map to business impact for executive partners. English Language competency & effective oral and written communication skills with a focus on listening and asking questions. Demonstrated adaptability in changing environments to strive to maintain a positive culture and work environment. A proven track record of driving for and achieving results including creatively thinking to progress. Ability to quickly build credibility and trust for effective collaboration towards mutual outcomes. Demonstrated persistence and initiative for high ownership and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

Understanding of NI software tools (i.e. LabVIEW, TestStand, LabWindows CVI) Hands on use of NI Hardware Platforms PMP/Scrum/Agile certification is a plus Experience with Azure DevOps/Rally/JIRA for defining, planning and tracking work items.
