Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Software/Hardware Test Engineer to design, develop, and execute test plans for our software applications. This role involves performing functional, regression, integration, and performance testing, as well as developing and maintaining automated test scripts. You will collaborate with development teams for debugging and ensure proper functionality and communication between systems through rigorous hardware integration testing.
Responsibilities
+ Design, develop, and execute test plans for software applications.
+ Perform functional, regression, integration, and performance testing.
+ Develop and maintain automated test scripts (currently, everything is manual).
+ Collaborate with development teams for debugging.
+ Test hardware and software integrations to ensure proper functionality and communication between systems.
+ Work closely with hardware and embedded systems teams to validate physical product performance in real-world conditions (cycle testing, test regime development, field testing).
+ Develop and execute test cases for hardware interaction, including sensors, actuators, and communication protocols.
+ Document and analyze test results, identifying defects in hardware or system interfaces.
+ Potential travel to customer sites within the U.S. or Canada for training purposes (all expenses covered).
Essential Skills
+ Experience with React (front end), MQTT (communication layer), or JavaScript.
+ Minimum of 1 year of manual software testing experience (can include co-ops/internships).
+ Knowledge of embedded/firmware, hardware integration testing, or software testing experience with a physical product.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering.
+ Experience with automated software testing.
+ Knowledge of hardware protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN).
+ Ability to troubleshoot hardware issues.
Work Environment
The position is primarily onsite, as the candidate will need to test and interact with the automated booths, with one day a week from home after training. Over the last five years, the entire Software team has been expanded from outsourcing to in-house, consisting of a Software Lead, 2 Software Developers, and a Software DevOps Engineer. The work environment is collaborative and offers opportunities for growth in areas such as Lead Test Engineer roles, procedure development, customer interactions, traveling, and learning coding/debugging.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $38.46/hr.
