Software Program Manager

Actalent's client is seeking an experienced, senior-level Software Engineering Program Manager to be the technical lead responsible for software development programs. Programs will include PC application development as well as mobile and cloud-based applications. The individual will be a member of the technical development team and will be responsible for the deliverables associated with software development projects including requirements, risk analysis, architecture, design, and V&V testing.

The position will report to the VP, R&D and will collaborate with other members of the technical leadership team. The candidate must have good interpersonal skills, as well as good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Leadership

• Lead an existing team of contracted software engineers and vendors.

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of a suite of software tools for patients and clinicians to use when managing therapy for an implanted neurostimulator.

• Assign tasks and prioritize workload to ensure efficient project execution.

• Monitor team performance and provide guidance and support to team members.

• Ensure project deliverables comply with quality standards and are delivered on program timelines.

Software and Application Development

• Conduct software design reviews to ensure adherence to coding best practices, cybersecurity, and performance standards.

• Build and deploy mobile applications for both iOS and Android.

• Integrate applications with existing Bluetooth infrastructure and cloud-based backend.

• Develop and author the document deliverables for the software, including requirements, design documents, risk analyses, and V&V testing strategies.

• Drive system integration testing and build and release activities.

• Lead the bug tracking process, including the management, cross-functional review, tracking, and follow-up.

• Work with senior technical team to define and accomplish development objectives.

• Provide detailed support for clinical studies and regulatory submissions.

Qualifications

• BS, MS or PhD in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or equivalent.

• 10+ years professional experience in implantable medical device development, with 5+ years in a senior R&D role.

• Expertise in implantable medical device development, including working directly with quality and regulatory team members.

• Expertise in software development lifecycle, software documentation and deliverables.

• Expertise in configuration management, automated testing, and software verification and validation.

• Deep knowledge of IEC 62304, ISO 14971 and other industry standards applicable to medical device software development.

• Demonstrated ability to interface with electrical, mechanical, software, and biomedical engineers and work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment
