We are currently seeking an experienced Software Safety Engineer in support of the Program Executive Office Ground Combat Systems (PEO GCS).The Software Safety Engineer will support system and software engineering efforts, ensuring safety and compliance within an assigned program.
This role involves providing high-level engineering analysis and feedback throughout the software development lifecycle, focusing on risk management and system design. The engineer will contribute to technical reviews, requirements management, and milestone documentation in coordination with government-led teams.  Responsibilities Provide engineering analysis of software configuration and functional analysis. Transform system architecture from functional to physical. Define alternative system concepts, configuration items, and system elements. Recommend product and process solutions and define/refine physical interfaces. Conduct engineering analysis related to system/subsystem design, development, integration, and testing documentation. Ensure software safety compliance with MIL-STD-882E within a DevSecOps CI/CD software pipeline or waterfall SDLC approach. Perform software verification and validation, including unit and system-level testing. Provide recommendations on software safety impacts at system and subsystem levels. Participate in design analysis, design layout, and simulation for software safety. Qualifications Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.A Bachelors degree from an ABET accredited program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering from a college or university.   A Masters degree in any of the preceding disciplines may be substituted for one year of general experience.  A minimum total of 10 years experience in the development of software for DoD computer systems using Ada, C, C++, or Java programming languages including a minimum of three years experience in the development of real-time software for DOD tactical platforms or DoD simulation/stimulation systems. Additional Information
