The Software Safety Engineer FMEA will support the MSMAS contract in Huntsville, AL. The predominant function for the safety engineer will be to develop the Flight Software FMEA for integration with the hardware FMEA for the Space Launch System (SLS) program.\n

RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nThe candidate will create FMEA, Hazard Analysis, and FTA products for Flight Software.\nThe candidate will assess the completeness of engineering software requirements.\nThe candidate will assess the completeness of engineering hazard analysis and corresponding definition of causes and controls as related to software.\nThe candidate will perform assessments of FMEA, Hazard Analysis, and FTA products provided by engineering. \nThe candidate will support development and implementation of safety engineering approaches assuring compliance with NASA safety polices and standards for hardware and software. \nThe engineer will assist other engineers as a technical point of contact on mission requirements. The engineer must be willing and able to collaborate with engineering organization.\n\n

\n\nThis position requires US Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer related information. \nMust have a bachelor's degree in the field of systems engineering, aerospace engineering, computer engineering, computer science, software engineering, or a software-related field.\nMust have 7+ years of recent and related work experience.\nMust have experience performing software safety and testing activities related to embedded software systems and associated technical products.\nMust have a working knowledge of complex electronics (e.g. ASICs, FPGAs) and programmable logic devices and their use in complex aerospace systems.\n\n

DESIRED:\n\nAble to evaluate engineering for compliance with NASA-STD 7150.2x in accordance with NASA-STD 8739.8x.\nFamiliarity with Mil-STD-882 and DO-178 Avionics Software Standard.\n\n

WORK LOCATION: \n\nThis position offers a hybrid work schedule (3 days at MSFC). \nThis position offers a 9\/80 schedule, every other Friday off. \nThis position may require some travel. \n\n

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:\n

STANDARD BASTION REQUIREMENTS:\n\nMust have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.\nAll of Bastion's employees must be team players. \nAble to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.\nAble to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.\nMust have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented.\nMust be organized with good time management skills.\nGenerally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.\nWork may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). \nMay require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).\nRegular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.\nAbility to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.\n\n
