The Amentum ESSCA group is looking for a motivated individual to support the tools development team in support of the Space Launch System (SLS) integrated avionics test facilities (IATF) at Marshall Space Flight Center.
Responsibilities\:
The selected applicant will work on a customer/contractor integrated team where computers are used to simulate rocket flight, diagnose hardware failures, and test scenarios that could occur during flight and plan how best to deal with critical events and support the flight crew. When simulating a rocket flight, there are hundreds of gigabytes of data recorded that needs to be analyzed and studies. These software tools are used to extract small slices of data that are then analyzed for a desired outcome and gives the engineers quick feedback on whether that analytical test passed or failed. These tools support Real-Time Embedded Software development where the tool capabilities include code generation, data analysis or tool chain integration. COTS deployment and maintenance is also provided.
Some functions of the position are as follows\:
Design, development, testing, deployment, and support of software applying organizational/project coding standards. Participate in a software development environment. Create and present detailed software designs. Conduct and participate in design and code reviews. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet performance goals. A BS degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering or related field is required. Degree from an ABET accredited institution preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a minimum of a Masters with at least 3 years of experience, or BS with at least 5 years of experience. The content below represents the types of skills that will be applied and a willingness to learn is a must.
Required\:
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Python and C/C Proficiency working with Unix/Linux (Unix-like OS structure, file system, shell, secure shell)Experience with software integration, testing, and troubleshooting Ability to work in a software development team and independently applying DevOps concepts and Agile Development methodologies Ability to communicate professionally, speaking and listening, with customers, stakeholders, and cross-organizational team members
Familiarity with Agile processes and project management tools
Preferred Skills\:
Desktop and web-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) development experience in React, Qt, and/or JavaScript.Experience developing software applications for Linux and Windows environments.
Experience developing applications using game engines such as Unity and Unreal Engine is desired.

Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and other facilities (10%).

Attendance\:
Normal workday is from 7\:30 a.m. through 4\:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Minimal overtime may be required (10%) to meet schedule milestones and to support technical demands of the job. Regular attendance is a necessity and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required.
