Summary You will assist Conservation Districts within the managerial unit, consisting of one or more counties or districts, in the development of a comprehensive natural resources conservation program. You will perform expert professional duties to achieve an integrated system of sound land use and conservation treatment in harmony with the capability and needs of the land and landowner. An incentive of up to $10,000 per year for 3 years may be offered if determined eligible at the time of selection. Responsibilities Responsible for the overall management of agricultural resources, the formulation and implementation of soil and water conservation plans for all outgrants and providing guidance and assistance to landowners. Work with landowners on collection and analysis to identify problems, determine objectives, inventory resources, and analyze resources. Partner with the state conservation partnership to provide long-term commitment to the local, state and federal government conservation delivery system to help private landowners, communities and others conserve natural resources within the state. Responsible for supervision of federal employees located in multiple field office(s). Independently ensures quality and quantity of work, reviews work of subordinates and accepts, revises, or rejects work. The quality of the combination of education and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate that the applicant possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the occupation, and is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field. In addition to courses in the major and related fields, a typical college degree would have included courses that involved analysis, writing, critical thinking, research, etc. These courses would have provided an applicant with skills and abilities sufficient to perform progressively more responsible work in the occupation. Examples of specialized experience include: Working with landowners to develop, maintain, and implement conservation plans; Collaborating with landowners to address natural resources concerns; and Interpreting land use potential and deficiencies. Education: Must have 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in soil conservation or related agricultural or natural resource discipline such as agronomy, soil science, forestry, agricultural education, or agricultural engineering. This combination must have equipped you with the necessary knowledge and/or experience to successfully perform the duties of this position.
