Solar Civil Lead Estimator

Insight Global is seeking a Solar Civil Lead Estimator to join our clients team in South Florida. The Solar Civil Lead will be responsible for performing estimating services as it relates to the civil, earthwork, erosion control, landscaping, and fencing scopes of work to the Solar Division in the execution of large capital projects. (Utility-Scale and Distributed Generation Projects). The typical day will be 25% to 30% meetings (all trades, kick off meetings, review meetings for estimates, different type of review meetings, check in meetings) and the rest of the day is work- whether that is in the office collaborating with others, or putting together estimates. Salary is roughly $130,000 based on years of Lead Estimating experience.
Responsibilities for this role include the following:
Performs civil takeoffs for solar projects based on limited information provided, including site layout, topographic survey, and geotechnical report
This individual must be proactive in retrieving information and must know the industry unit rates for the civil features in order to provide quality estimation criteria
Experience compiling estimates into bid form
Setup and lead descope meetings with civil subcontractors to verify estimates
Setup and lead civil estimate review with management.
Prepare and track estimates as the design drawings progress, including, value-engineering analysis
Assist design team and owners to make intelligent/informed decisions to keep the design program and project budget on track as it relates to civil / site work scopes of work
Review final construction drawings and specifications to determine final scope of work and lead pre-bid/post bid trade contractor meetings
Establish and maintain good business relationships with trade contractors and vendors to assure the support and interest on pre-construction solar projects
Provide support to the team, including training of Junior Staff
Communicate and interact with the project owner, design consultants and internal staff with the most professional demeanor
