Job Title: Solar Estimator

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Actively gather and disseminate information for each opportunity by coordinating directly with all stakeholders and appropriate resources, including but not limited to: the buyer, the end user, vendors, and/or other sources of information. Interpret customer provided information including but not limited to: RFP’s, utility information, drawings, specifications, contractual information, photos, site walk information, and/or requirements as the basis for formulating proposal and quotation strategies. Work with Estimating, Engineering, Operations, and Sales Departments to analyze customer requirements and develop a winning strategy for every quotation. Identify the optimum cost/availability of materials within the customer’s approved material supplier or country of origin list and prepare material and labor estimates used in the quotation process. Developing technical designs using helioscope and/or AutoCAD Accurate modeling of renewable systems savings and economics Learn to effectively utilize all estimating documentation and electronic programs to prepare the bill of material and labor estimate for all quotations. Complete all documentation on time and in an organized manner consistent with company policies and management directives. Manage expectations from inception, through contract execution and project completion. Manage and beneficially resolve disputes with clients, contractors, vendors, suppliers, or subcontractors. Perform necessary reporting, organization, and support of departmental initiatives as required Ensure proper hand-off procedures have been followed and documented including proposals, budgets, scopes; and any contractual project completion requirements have been accurately communicated and delivered to Project Management staff. Complete tasks in an accurate and timely manner. If additional information or support is required convey needs in a comprehensive and timely manner in order to effective a positive outcome as applicable.

Job Specifications (incl. Education requirements, minimal experience, computer skills required, etc.) 

Electrical Engineering degree or electrical experience. 2+ years’ experience as an electrical estimator or in a similar role preferred. An overall broad understanding of all types of electrical systems. Medium and high voltage. Experience with tooling, machining, fabrication or construction environments and industries. Must be fluent with Office Suite (SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) Strong technical writing skills and the ability to read and interpret drawings and/or construction plans are required for success. This position requires strong negotiating and organizational skills, the ability to perform detailed work promptly, follow up through order closure, and manage the order throughout the manufacturing process.

Compensation Range:   $90,000 - $114,000 per year
