They provide support for solar PV projects, primarily in the design and permitting phases. This support includes layout design and techno-economic optimisation, as well as resource and yield assessments.  Key Accountabilities The Solar Solution Engineer is responsible for:Carrying out feasibility assessmentsCarrying out solar resource assessments and energy yield assessmentsSupporting the techno-economic optimisation of solar projects, including solar PV System design and its impact on Balance of SystemCarrying out miscellaneous analyses in support of project developmentSupporting the procurement team in discussions with suppliersCarrying out ad-hoc analysis and tool developmentThe Solar Solution Engineer may also use their skills and experience to support other areas of the business, in any of RES’ regional markets. Knowledge Knowledge of statisticsKnowledge of the Solar PV industry and the design of utility-scale Solar PV projects. International knowledge would be an advantage. SkillsGood report writing skills and attention to detailGood time management skillsGood communication and interpersonal skillsExperienceExperience of working on Utility-scale Solar PV projects, working as either the Developer, EPC contractor or Technical Advisor/ Owner EngineerExperience of system wide design including PV design, string sizing, inverter loading ratios, energy modelling and layoutsExperience of collaboration on multi-disciplinary projectsExperience of PVSyst or other PV simulation softwareExperience of designing for constructability and installation would be an advantageExperience in GIS would be advantageExperience in a programming language such as Python would be an advantage QualificationsDegree level qualification in Electronics, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering or a related disciplineOr, a suitable trade/non-vocational background with appropriate experience At RES we celebrate difference as we know it makes our company a great place to work.
