Soldering Technician is responsible for performing precision soldering tasks to assemble and repair electronic components and assemblies. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to quality standards, and the ability to work with various electronic components and tools.
Soldering and Assembly: Perform manual soldering of electronic components to printed circuit boards (PCBs) and assemblies according to specifications and diagrams.
Inspection and Testing: Inspect soldered joints for quality and defects using magnification tools and perform functional tests to ensure proper operation.
Repair and Rework: Identify and repair defective solder joints and components; rework assemblies as necessary to meet quality standards.
Component Handling: Manage and handle electronic components, including surface-mount and through-hole components, with care to avoid damage.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including repair logs and component usage.
Safety and Compliance: Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe working environment. Adhere to industry standards and regulations.
Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and other technicians to resolve technical issues and improve soldering techniques.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in electronics or soldering preferred.
Experience: Previous experience in soldering or electronics assembly is highly desirable. Experience with both hand soldering and automated soldering techniques is a plus.
Skills:
Proficiency in hand soldering techniques for various types of components.
Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and technical drawings.
Knowledge of soldering materials, tools, and equipment.
Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work for extended periods while sitting or standing.
Manual dexterity to handle small components and tools.
Ability to lift and carry up to [Insert Weight] pounds if required.
Preferred Skills:
Certification in IPC-A-610 or IPC-J-STD-001 soldering standards.
Familiarity with surface-mount technology (SMT) and automated soldering processes.
