Solid Waste Engineering Consultant

Role description:

Arcadis is looking for a Solid Waste Engineering Consultant with specialized Solid Waste Management Consulting Engineering experience to join our Resilience Team in either Hanover, Maryland or Arlington or Richmond, Virginia. We offer a flexible hybrid work culture with balance between remote and in-office work. 

The candidate in this role will provide technical expertise and leadership to our team of highly skilled engineers, while leading tasks/projects simultaneously and applying technical knowledge in the development of sustainable and resilient solutions to challenges faced by the solid waste industry. 

Role accountabilities:

The Solid Waste Engineering Consultant will utilize their specialized expertise and knowledge of solid waste management systems to lead and support program planning, capital project delivery, operations and maintenance, and even remediation of related collection, transfer, processing and disposal of solid waste materials via a range of technologies. 

Some travel may be required to conduct project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, general planning purposes or to oversee construction activities, depending on project staffing needs.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Manage internal project budgets and schedule for client deliverables. Support the development of solid waste management related opportunities and projects. Provide technical support and/or quality assurance management in support of project pursuit and delivery.  Provide leadership and mentoring to junior staff members. Supervise and review the work of other project technical leads. Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications: 

Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field of study. 7 years of solid waste management consulting engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 

10 or more years of solid waste management consulting experience. Experience leading and managing project delivery (budget/profit and schedule). Experience in capital project delivery on behalf of clients including capital project planning and experience using a range of alternative project delivery methods. Also, active participation in regional and/or national professional associations is a plus. PE License

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
