This posting is being used to fill two vacancies. They are temporary unclassified positions and are anticipated to last two years. These positions exist in the Planning and Assistance Unit to assist in the development of solid waste management plans and to assist in efforts to improve measurement and data quality for solid waste and sustainable materials management. One of the two positions will also have time dedicated to supporting the state’s sustainable purchasing program. The second position will have time dedicated to supporting Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) program. These positions will contribute to the development and implementation of new solid waste, procurement and or hazardous waste, policies, plans and financial strategies with businesses, local units of government and other public entities and organizations. The positions will also assist with the implementation of the SCORE program. SCORE provides financial assistance to county governments and the affiliated reporting process is instrumental in measuring the state’s waste generation and recycling programs. **Minimum Qualifications** One year of professional experience leading and administering comprehensive environmental projects, **OR** Bachelor's degree in environmental protection, sustainability, pollution prevention, planning, public policy, statistics/data science or a related field, **OR** Two years technical experience responsible for providing programmatic (environmental) support. Experience must include demonstration of data analysis and reporting skills, project management and organizational skills. **AND** Ability to: Communicate effectively verbally and in writing in order to translate technical information, rules and regulations to language understandable by a non-technical audience. Possess a valid Driver's license (see additional requirements). The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency will not sponsor applicants for work visas. Demonstrated understanding of environmentally preferable purchasing (EPP) or sustainable procurement. Demonstrated understanding of Household Hazardous Waste programs. Demonstrated understanding or urban or community planning. Demonstrated understanding of sustainable materials management, concepts, issues, approaches and policies. Demonstrated understanding of broad sustainability, environmental and land use issues. Experience with analyzing and managing data. Experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel. **Physical Requirements** Requires occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file folders, ledgers, and small equipment. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. **Additional Requirements** A driver’s license is an essential function of this position. This requires possession of an unrestricted Class D Driver’s License. The job offer is contingent on confirmation of a valid driver’s license AND a satisfactory DLR check. Requires a Class D driver´s License: a single unit vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of less than 26,000 pounds. This is a basic driver’s license. Operators may also tow vehicles/trailers as long as the gross combination weight does not exceed 26,000 pounds.
