About this Role
Solutions Architects (SA) in VMware by Broadcom’s Corporate Accounts segment provide the technical leadership for customers’ strategic IT programs and initiatives. The SA is responsible for discovery of customer needs, architecting and demonstrating the value of VMware by Broadcom’s VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) solution, and prescribing consumption and future state architecture plans for clients’ long-term success. Architects will work closely with our customers, Account Directors, pre-sales peers, extended specialist teams, and VMware by Broadcom’s executive leadership team regularly throughout the solution lifecycle. The SA role is one of high visibility and impact with the purpose of ensuring adoption of the VCF solution within the assigned accounts.
Building solutions may include activities such as executing workshops, conducting client interviews, doing secondary research, soliciting guidance from account teams and industry specialists, and working with technical specialists and product managers. In the Solution Architect role, you will have the chance to leverage your architectural, engineering, and IT leadership skills, as well as your industry and knowledge of VMware by Broadcom’s transformational portfolio to shape the future of your customers
This role will exclusively support customers in the SLED (State, Local, and EDucation) markets in the states CA, MT, OR, WA, WY, ID, and OR.
Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
Within the first 3 months in role, you will be engaged in a variety of enablement and training designed to help you achieve proficiency in various technologies and concepts necessary for the role including:
VMware Cloud Foundation product knowledge and implementation
Networking and troubleshooting skills across the VCF ecosystem
Oral and written communication skills and presentation abilities
Problem solving and critical thinking skills
Shadowing SA team member in person and via Zoom
Within the first (1) week, you will begin shadowing the assigned territory Account Directors and peer SA’s to begin acclimating to the various selling motions and customers
Within the first six (6) weeks in role, you will begin working with assigned territory to validate technical considerations for customers
Between 9-12 months you will be proficient in leading technical validations efforts for customers across the VCF solution set.
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
Current State - Understand the customer's business objectives, IT initiatives, use cases, and existing IT environment layout and match them with VMware’s value proposition, vision, technologies and services to create outcome-based solution proposal
Future State - Lead the development of customer VCF consumption plans against a defined future state architecture for your customers
Lead in product conversation highlighting key product features, benefits and capabilities through individual customer meetings, demos, and structured technology workshops with specific customer stakeholders.
Coordinate solution proposals with professional services, potential partners, VARs and peer software vendors.
Participate in the identification, qualification and prioritization of all renewals and net new opportunity pipeline
Pro-actively maintain expertise of VMware technologies via provided enablement
Maintain technical and business knowledge of industry direction and trends.
Maintain working knowledge of competitive offerings and architectures.
REQUIRED SKILLS/Education:
BA/BS required with Masters Preferred or Equivalent Industry Experience.
Eight (8) or more years of Information Technology experience required.
Pre-sales customer facing experience OR IT Team/Departmental Leadership
Experience in developing, positioning, and implementing business aligned IT strategies, architectures, roadmaps, and proposals.
Strong relationship building, listening and question based consultative skills.
Ability to effectively present and adjust to level of the audience persona. This will often including executive audiences
Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.
Broad, domain level architectural understanding of:
Current IT Trends
IT Transformation and Modernization Technologies and Practices
Cloud Computing and IT Infrastructure and Data Center Design
Platform Design and Architecture
IT Processes. Governance, IT Roles & Responsibilities
IT Business drivers and financial operations
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Professional experience building out solutions with VMware technologies
Working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies
Solution design, implementation, and consultation experience.
Advanced certifications (Examples include: ITIL, CISSP, VCP, VCDX) a plus.
Location & Travel
This is a home office-based position with candidates residing in Pacific Northwest
Travel: Up to 50% to customer sites as needed. Most travel will be in-regional.

Compensation and Benefits
The On Target Earnings (OTE) range for this position is $125,000 - $222,000
OTE includes Sales Incentive Commission in accordance with relevant plan documents. This position is also eligible for equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
