Solution Architect Manager

Position Overview

As a Solution Architecture Manager within PNC's Asset Management Group (AMG) Technology Strategy, Architecture, and Innovation organization, you will be responsible for managing and developing a team of solution architects, that develop solution architectures and strategic technology roadmaps that enable key outcomes for PNC’s Asset Management Group (e.g., wealth management, private bank, investment office, institutional asset management). You will be based in Pittsburgh, PA or Strongsville, OH or Dallas, TX. or Birmingham, AL. The position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at the manager’s discretion.

Description:
This senior-level leadership position is responsible for managing and developing a team of Solution Architects in our Strategy, Architecture, and Innovation practice. It interacts with senior business and technology leaders, SMEs, and our business architecture team to bridge the gap of current state business needs with the future state objectives culminating in technology strategies, roadmaps, and architectures that will enable business outcomes and drive transformation. In this role, you will draw upon your business and technology experience to partner with these key stakeholders to ensure that the strategic business capability needs, technology perspectives, architectures, artifacts, and roadmaps are well crafted, presented, and achieve consensus. You will be required to understand complex business and system interactions to develop solution architecture deliverables (e.g., systems integration diagrams, sequence diagrams, architectural trade-off analyses) that support continuous improvement, large-scale transformation initiatives, and enable key non-functional architectural quality attributes (e.g., resilience, recoverability, performance, availability, security).

Candidates should have prior managerial experience, with a strong background in solution/platform/system/application/data architecture, along with a good working knowledge of business architecture. Strong candidates will also have business domain knowledge of the financial services industry, with preference for the wealth management / private bank space. This role will also assess and drive technology/integration strategies to gain operational efficiencies, optimize product offerings and deliver a compelling client value proposition, ensuring that the bank’s portfolio of capabilities and enabling solutions are leveraged to their full potential.

This leadership position is highly visible, and influential, demanding candidates to be strategic, conscientious, deliberate, and able to build deep relationships with key partners. This role requires proven thought leadership, networking skills, interpersonal communication, political & emotional intelligence, written communication, the ability to understand and anticipate emerging business needs and technology capabilities, and the ability to manage and develop a strong team.

This position develops and leads a Solution Architecture team that:

• Develops solution architectures and resolves complex issues in a variety of projects through the implementation of requirements analysis, expertise support, and project engagements.
• Designs solution architectures for large or complex programs, including system and application designs, software and technical architecture, in accordance with strategies and objectives.
• Provides expertise for the solution architecture team and other IT staff on a variety of issues in software designs, system architecture and solution-oriented technologies.
• Develops solutions that account for non-functional requirements (architectural quality attributes) and apply appropriate architectural tactics to fulfil them.
• Communicates with clients and analyses business requirements and processes; makes recommendations and leads in shaping future plans in solution architecture.
• Oversees solution architecture project outcomes, including hardware and software design; ensures that each project phase meets overall requirements.
• Explores new and emerging technologies and develops strategic viewpoints on how they could be leveraged to enable business outcomes, drive transformation, or understand their potential disruptions. Evaluate, recommend, and apply new information technologies for existing, new, and emerging business environments and operating models.
• Practices decision making and critical thinking – Understands the issues related to the decision-making process; reaches productive decisions by analyzing situations fully and accurately.
• Practices Enterprise Systems thinking & possesses a broad understanding of technologies.
• Analyzes and constructs domain-wide solution perspectives for senior and executive level stakeholders, as a basis for, or in response to, strategic planning.
• Serves as technical consultants to engineering teams regarding applications, middleware, events, APIs, database, user experience, mobile, web, etc.
• Develops architectures for client and employee facing technologies.
