Salary Range: $88,990-$127,923/year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.

The Solutions Architect, Clinical Solutions reports to the Manager and is an integral team member of the Provincial Digital Health and Information Services (PDHIS) team. The role demonstrates acute business acumen and provides leadership to the overall vision and execution of Clinical system solutions by translating high-level business requirements into system requirements that guide the blueprint for the design and development teams. The Solution Architect leads the analysis, documentation, prioritization, and alignment of requests and requirements, and provides expert consultation, vision, and leadership in the analysis, feasibility, design, planning, implementation, and use of PDHIS solutions.
The Solutions Architect provides options or solution recommendations that have a quality- and equity-lens applied, are inclusive of Indigenous perspectives and incorporate anti-racist and decolonizing principles, sustainable, align with the clinical, operational, business, enterprise architecture and project requirements, and ensures a cohesive and integrated solution across Clinical solutions, interfaces, and other applications.
Duties/Accountabilities:
• Coordinates planning for systems initiatives, working closely with business units, functional area managers, senior IT team, and architecture team members to define the goals, objectives, and plans that direct systems design and implementation activities. Resolves problems and scheduling conflicts and provides status updates and reports.
• Provides expert advice and consultation by performing analysis, formulating recommendations for proposed technology changes, and by provides input into application development and the use of new technology for inclusion in the technology architecture. Provides consultation and advice to senior management on technology alternatives and solutions.
• Liaises with and coordinates tasks with internal and external clinical and technical stakeholders. Collaborates with Leadership, Project Managers, and team members to develop overall implementation solution plan, provide estimates and serve as a lead as required, to implement the configuration, integration, and implementation efforts.
• Contributes to the development of formalized solution methodologies, including building and maintaining repository for deliverables, methodologies, and business development documents. Write, or direct the writing of briefing notes that add further insight and thought in the solution area.
• Provides leadership, guidance, and supervision of staff using effective leadership techniques such as coaching, mentoring, skills and leadership development, and performance management to ensure alignment with policies and standards related to solutions architecture. Provides staff training and orientation, and develops supporting documentation and instructional material.
• Designs and coordinates the implementation of solutions based on clinical and business requirements and ensures alignment with enterprise-wide service and technology architectures. Communicates the technology options and solutions to IMITS Leadership, IMITS team members, and external stakeholders.
• Responsible for developing and maintaining solutions improvement activities. Facilitates solutions design and implementation activities, organizes and delivers testing events, assists with the management of change control and issue management, and coordinates on the delivery and installation of different code platforms.
• Provides recommendations on the use and evolution of system architecture and analyzes to determine the potential impact on the design and build and the suitability of different approaches in solving emerging business needs. Maintains an awareness of current market technology, and industry trends and standards related to relevant technologies information systems.
• Designs and implements solutions in alignment with enterprise-wide security policies. Ensures solution access controls are designed and built in a way that provides appropriate, demonstrable, and coordinated security procedures and practices that are compliant with related law, regulation, policy, and professional standards. Provides monitoring, auditing, and investigation expertise into security, policy, and appropriate use violations.
• Acts as an advisor to the Project Management Office by assessing project risks, identifying risk mitigation strategies and opportunities, and monitoring risk throughout the life cycle of the project. Recommends solutions to achieve goals and outcomes.
• Participates in assigned Provincial, and Federal committees; chairs and/or leads the discussion as required.
Qualifications:
A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Business Administration, Clinical Informatics, Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline, plus a minimum of seven (7) years' recent, related experience in a large, complex organization, including but not limited to, project management, systems analysis, application development, architecture, and operations or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
