Responsibilities and Duties
Act as technical liaison between customers, sales department and vendors to provide pre-sales consulting (70%) and post-sales implementation (30%) of enterprise applications software, networking, data storage systems and virtualization solutions. Analyze customers’ requirements, and current hardware and software. Assist the sales department and other engineers with the development of technical design, proposals, quotations, and presentations. Owns the technical sales cycle while working closely with the sales team to close business. Deliver presentations to all levels of IT operations, including first-line managers and CTOs. Create Statements of Work (SOW’s) for proposals and installations. Use software and hardware diagnostic tools to identify complex problems that affect system performance. Technical environment includes TCP/IP, Fibre Channel switches, FC/IP SAN, NAS, replication technology, backup technology, cloud technology, REST architecture, RDB, CLARiiON, Symmetrix, and VMware. 50% travel, mostly within the San Francisco Bay Area for sales calls and presentations, but occasional remote travel (1 or 2 times a month for a few days) to other US locations.
Qualifications:
Must have Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Information Technology, or related field, and seven years of post-baccalaureate experience as a systems or sales engineer in the data storage industry, OR Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, and five years of experience as a systems or sales engineer in the data storage industry. Experience must include five years of pre-sales technical consulting.
