Solutions Engineer, Data and Insights Team, Global Specialties - Guy Carpenter

Global Specialties is a division of Guy Carpenter, consisting of over 270 colleagues based in London, Bermuda, New York, Singapore, and Mumbai. We offer reinsurance broking services across various classes, including Specialty Property, Marine, Energy, Aviation, Trade Credit, Cyber, Construction, and Engineering. 

Data and Insights is a growing team dedicated to enhancing our colleagues' and clients' understanding of the markets they operate in. We collect, analyse, and visualise data related to reinsurance transactions, market trends and purchasing habits. Our aim is to empower our colleagues to provide comprehensive advice and assist clients in making well-informed decisions regarding their reinsurance purchasing, risk appetite, and portfolio management. 

The Data and Insights team operates in an informal, agile, and transparent manner. We prioritise delivering value through experimentation, regular deployment, and direct engagement with stakeholders. Our current stack features Python, Django, Angular, Postgres, Microsoft SQL, Databricks, Power BI and Excel but we are always open to exploring new technologies. 

What you can expect 

You will be part of a small team and will be responsible for delivering solutions from start to finish.  

You will face challenges such as dealing with outdated applications, unstructured data, and decentralised file storage.  

You will have the opportunity to collaborate and share best practices with other engineering teams at Guy Carpenter and Marsh McLennan.

What you will need to have 

A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. 

Experience in a comparable role.  

Expert knowledge in Python backend frameworks, especially FastAPI, Flask and Django. 

Experience with low code frontend frameworks (e.g. Streamlit). 

What will make you stand out 

Experience with modern web development frameworks (e.g., React, Angular).

Familiarity and experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Databricks, SQL, Power BI).

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. 

Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
