Job Title: Solutions Sales Support Engineer

Salary/Grade: £44,980 - £56,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Location: Larne

Benefits: 

25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

Up to 12% bonus

Contributory pension scheme - Caterpillar will double the employee's contribution up to 6%.

The opportunity

The Solutions Sales Support Engineer will review customer requests and specifications, provide concept designs, schematic layouts, design calculations and product costing. You will work with the Solutions Sales Consultants and Caterpillar Territory Sales Managers to increase the sales of Solutions product for the Electric Power market and in so by increasing the sales of generating sets.

As the Solutions Sales Support Engineer, you will represent Caterpillar during customer meetings (both virtual and in territory) and develop and maintain relations with Dealers, Consultant Engineers and end customers.

The Solutions Sales Support Engineer will complete most projects with minimal supervision and have an extensive knowledge of product offerings, and associated distribution and protection equipment, for onsite deployment and integration.

What you will do:

Responsibility to provide concept designs for power and control systems while keeping within production capability.  Provide cost estimation for these systems and sub systems accordingly at the enquiry quotation stage.

Partake in specification reviews and provide clarity around what is being provided in the offering.

Work closely with the various Area/Regional Sales Managers, Dealers and end customers.

Manage all the associated challenges in order to meet customer requirements.

What you have:

Education:

Engineering degree with an electrical/electronic discipline with relevant progressive experience. Candidates with lesser or no 3rd level qualification must be able to demonstrate substantially more relevant experience

Technical Excellence - Level Extensive Experience:

Good working knowledge of power generation or electrical products and associated low and medium voltage distribution and protection equipment, for onsite deployment and integration.

Ability to interpret specifications to provide an effective solution for the customer.

Engages appropriate subject matter resources to effectively resolve technical issues.

Provides effective solutions to moderate technical challenges through strong technical competence, effectively examining implications of events and issues.

Effective Communications - Level Extensive Experience:

Good communication skills in written and oral form along with well-developed interpersonal skills.

Employs appropriate methods of persuasion when soliciting agreement.

Adapts documents and presentations for the intended audience.

Managing Multiple Priorities - Level Extensive Experience:

Demonstrable ability to prioritise, plan and deliver workload in collaboration with the management and customers

Shifts focus among several efforts as required by changing priorities.

Addresses potential conflicts that impact current delivery commitments.

Works with or leads others to re-prioritize work and reschedule commitments as necessary.

Analytical Thinking - Level Extensive Experience:

Both good analytical and innovative skills are considered essential.

High attention to detail with a logical and clear thought process for problem solving.

Seeks discrepancies and inconsistencies in available information; explains variances.

Quantifies the costs, benefits, risks and chances for success before recommending a course of action.

Additional information:

There will be up to 15% travel to meet customers and dealers.

This position is currently a hybrid in-office work model, requiring a 3-day weekly office presence onsite at our Larne office and remote work for the remaining days. However, work arrangements may be adjusted at any time based on business needs.
