About the Division of Parole Services:
The Division of Parole Services was established within the Indiana Department of Correction in 1960 severing its relationship with the State Welfare Department. Parole Services is charged with enhancing public safety by providing community-based supervision and services for individuals through evidence-based practices as they transition from a Correctional Facility to Community Supervision. Parole Services Division operates out of ten district offices located across the State.
Role Overview:
The Program Director of SOMM and Interstate Services will report directly to the SOMM Program Director within the division of Parole Services. This position will be required to work with various outside law enforcement agencies and provide collaborative assistance to the division. The Program Director will oversee interstate movement and monitoring of incarcerated individuals regarding extraditions and Interstate Corrections Compact transfers while ensuring compliance with multiple federal laws as well as being heavily involved with Sex Offender Management and Monitoring actions.
Essential Duties/Responsabilites:
+ Monitoring of all out of state apprehensions from the time that individuals are taken into custody until extradited or discharged.
+ Coordinate the interstate transport of incarcerated individuals, providing instruction and counsel to various Indiana correctional facility and parole staff.
+ Arrange for interstate transfer of incarcerated individuals which are treated as high security transports.
+ Coordinate and assign staff to carry out high security transportation details, make necessary arrangements, and complete an operations order for each transport.
+ Ensure semi-annual progress reports are completed and received for all incoming and outgoing Interstate Corrections Compact transfers.
+ Arrange for annual site inspections at interstate facilities housing Indiana incarcerated individuals.
+ Maintain databases to track Lifetime Parolees.
+ Present as an instructor in parole academies and additional trainings.
+ Attend and actively participate in SOMM containment team meetings.
+ Assist with phone and mail responses.
+ Maintain availability for after-hours issues.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
+ Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in criminology; criminal justice, law enforcement, or social work, or related areas and one (1) year full-time experience in correctional counseling, criminology, parole/probation, law enforcement, social work, or related areas is preferred. Full-Time experience in protective services may substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.
+ Must test negative on all drug screens.
+ Ability to work professionally with outside agencies while representing the Indiana Department of Correction.
+ Ability to clearly and effectively communicate in person, on the phone, and through written communication.
+ Ability to utilize various computer programs to monitor, store, and transmit essential offender information.
+ Knowledge of Indiana Penal Code and Department of Correction Policies, Procedures, and Division Directives
+ Ability to complete and maintain on-the-job training, and In-Service training.
+ Ability to complete and maintain weapons qualifications.
+ Ability to adhere to the department’s dress code and grooming requirements.
+ Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment.
+ Ability to respond appropriately to an emergency.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
