About the location:

Four Seasons Resort Mallorca at Formentor, perched on the spectacular Formentor Peninsula and surrounded by panoramic views of the Mediterranean and the stunning landscape, first opened its doors in August 2024 following an extensive restoration and renovation of the historic property, originally inaugurated in 1929 on a vast private estate. After its successful debut, the resort will reopen to guests in March 2025, reaffirming its status as a unique destination of luxury and elegance on the island.

Key Responsibilities:

· Oversee the wine and beverage service in the restaurant, ensuring an exceptional guest experience.

· Manage the wine list, including selection, pricing, and inventory control.

· Train and mentor staff on wine knowledge, service techniques, and pairing suggestions.

· Conduct tastings and educate guests about wine selections and offerings.

· Collaborate with the kitchen team to create harmonious food and wine pairings.

Our Ideal Sommelier candidate will have:

Extensive Wine Knowledge: A deep understanding of wine regions, grape varieties, and wine production processes, as well as an ability to provide recommendations to guests.Certification: Relevant certifications, such as Certified Sommelier or equivalent from recognized wine education programs (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, Wine & Spirit Education Trust).Supervisory Experience: Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a restaurant or hospitality setting, demonstrating the ability to manage a team effectively.Excellent Tasting Skills: Proficiency in tasting and evaluating wines, with a refined palate for identifying quality and characteristics.Strong Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities to educate staff and engage with guests about wine offerings.Customer Service Orientation: A commitment to providing excellent service and enhancing the dining experience through wine pairings and recommendations.Menu Development Skills: Experience in creating and updating wine lists, ensuring they align with the culinary offerings and guest preferences.Inventory Management: Knowledge of inventory control processes, including ordering, stock rotation, and managing wine cellar storage.Training and Development: Ability to train and mentor staff on wine service, tasting techniques, and proper wine storage.Sales Skills: Proven ability to drive wine sales and upsell through effective communication and relationship-building with guests.Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly regarding wine storage, inventory management, and compliance with legal regulations.Passion for Hospitality: A genuine enthusiasm for the hospitality industry and a desire to create memorable experiences for guests.Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to handle guest complaints or issues related to wine service calmly and effectively.Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.Team Collaboration: A collaborative mindset to work effectively with kitchen staff and management to enhance the overall dining experience.
