THE JOB:

As a Sommelier, you will be responsible for complete knowledge of wine lists, wine, and food pairing while working in a Michael Mina restaurant! You will also set the stage for guest experience with your welcoming smile and service. By understanding their unique stories and needs, you will own their experience to create WOW memories they will carry with them far and beyond their stay with us.

Starting Pay: $14.51

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

Ensure comprehensive understanding of the wine list and proficient knowledge of wine and food pairing.

Handle monetary transactions meticulously, adhering to all cash handling and comp procedures.

Thoroughly clean and maintain equipment, tools, and supplies, ensuring the proper functioning and appearance of the workstation.

Regularly update cellar/storage inventory in accordance with established pars and internal controls, and requisition products to uphold stock levels in designated areas.

Engage with wine suppliers regularly to procure high-quality wines for the restaurant's wine program, while also assessing potential purchases of other beverages.

Minimize wastage by educating and supervising staff on wine-related matters such as knowledge, pour levels, and storage practices.

Verify the accuracy of wine deliveries from the main warehouse and facilitate returns or exchanges in the event of warehouse errors.

Manage purchases and requisitions to maintain appropriate beverage costs, placing wine requisitions at the conclusion of each service period.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

Prior experience in a similar role with wine knowledge and certification as a sommelier.

Prior experience in a high-volume fine dining environment.

Passionate about providing excellent customer service.

Proficient in wine and alcohol, as well as food pairing.

Motivated and willing to train team members using your wine knowledge and certification.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or equivalent.

2+ Years of Prior Relevant Experience.

Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays.

CERTIFICATIONS:

Certified Sommelier diploma | Court of Master Sommelier
