South Region Director - Resilience Water

Role Description:

Arcadis is seeking an experienced and dynamic Region Director to lead and profitably grow our Resilience Water Business Area (BA) in the South Region of the United States. The region encompasses Maryland, the District of Columbia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Florida, and Puerto Rico. Reporting directly to the Business Area Director (BAD) for North America, this full-time leadership role oversees 200+ staff and is pivotal to driving performance, profitable growth, and operational excellence. 

In this role, you will lead and oversee the development and execution of strategies to achieve business goals, foster client relationships, ensure project delivery excellence, and champion people leadership and development. This role emphasizes collaboration within a matrix organization, working with the other Region Directors, Business Unit Leaders (BULs), Practice Directors, Operations Director, Federal Director, BA Sales Director, and Strategic People Business Partner to foster a unified team culture and achieve business success. 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: Deliver on critical business metrics such as Net Order Intake (NOI), Net Revenue (NR), Hourly Billability (HB), Financial Billability (FB), Net Contribution Margin (NCM), and profitability while positioning Arcadis as global sustainable transformation partner. Client & Market Focus: Collaborate with other business leaders to prioritize strategic clients, enhance client relationships, and develop and execute pursuit strategies within the region. Operational Excellence: Oversee project delivery, risk identification, and mitigation, and ensure compliance with governance processes. Team Development: Foster an inclusive and engaging environment, promote career development, and build a diverse, high-performing team. Continuous Improvement: Drive digital innovation, sustainability, standardization, and automation to enhance project delivery and identify growth opportunities.

Key Shared Accountabilities:

Partner with the BAD, Finance Controller, Legal Director, and Operations Director to manage financial and operational risks and monitor performance metrics such as EBITA%, NCM%, and FB. Collaborate with the Operations Director on workload management, monitoring project performance, optimizing processes, and leveraging Global Excellence Center (GEC) engagement to enhance capabilities, increase capacity, and improve margins. Engage with BULs, Practice Directors, and the BA Growth Director to develop account and growth plans and strengthen client engagement. Collaborate with Practice Directors to identify capability gaps, and develop strategies to address them, including training, recruiting, and geographical alignment of talent to support the national and regional expansion of the Practice Partner with Strategic People Business Partners to enhance organizational health by advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, employee satisfaction, and retention.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a relevant field 15 years of experience in the water industry, including leading and growing a significant business function within a professional services firm

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in strategic planning and execution Extensive business development and client management experience with proven success in fostering growth. Large-scale Project Management and/or Account Leader experience Excellent leadership and team management capabilities, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve organizational goals Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal Professional certifications such as PE or PMP are highly desirable

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
