​We have an exciting opportunity for a Space Suit Project Manager to join our team within the Engineering Division.

If selected, you will\:

Perform project management and engineering functions for space suit development, including requirements development, hardware development, manufacturing, assembly, and test Manage the engineering team for the specific space suit subsystem assigned Provide budgeting, forecasting and cost estimating support Monitor cost performance for their subsystem development against established plans Develop and maintain company and customer financial reports Oversee and develop schedules, procedures, work instructions and process flows Develop risks and risk mitigation plans for rollup into the higher-level risk system Interact frequently with inter-organizational disciplines, NASA System Managers, and operational customers Perform other duties as required *

Requisition Qualifications\:

This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering and may be expected to have a related master's degree and normally possess 10-15 years of related experience Experience managing and leading engineering projects Experience with financial reporting, including budgeting, forecasting and cost estimating Excellent oral and written communication skills and will be expected to effectively interact with customers and management at all levels Ability to coordinate support from a wide range of technical disciplines Ability to work independently and autonomously and track tasks and issues to completion Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, environmental testing, and office software

Requisition Preferences\: 

​BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of fourteen (14) years of direct engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and twelve (12) years of direct engineering experience, or Ph.D. degrees and nine (9) years direct engineering experience Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures Prior experience working with Space Suits or other areas of Human Spaceflight ​

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

Other Essential Functions

Professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
