This role is for an experienced mechanical engineer to support Orion Space Solutions, a subsidiary of Arcfield. OSS operates as a small engineering company. As such, the engineer selected for this role will have a broad range of responsibilities, primarily focused on supporting development of smallsats, payloads, and GSE. This role will require the engineer to work cross-functionally and identify needs from other engineering and programmatic groups. In addition, they will be required to tackle open-ended design problems that require pro-active communication and problem solving. At a high-level, the engineer will be required to support the following tasks: Create high-level mechanical designs for the following: Cubesat & smallsat spacecraft buses Payloads and other spacecraft subsystems Create detailed designs & drawings for both flight hardware and ground-support equipment Create design documentation and deliver presentations Communicate with cross-functional team to verify all needs are met Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and drive implementation Provide design guidance and mentorship for junior engineers Support project planning and estimate work effort to deliver designs Qualifications Required: BS + 8-10 years, MS + 6-8 years, or PhD + 3-5 years professional working experience in mechanical engineering positions 5+ years of engineering experience with spaceflight hardware 2+ years of engineering experience designing spacecraft buses Equal Pay Act This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
